About Taxonomy

An XBRL Taxonomy is a "vocabulary" or "dictionary" created by a group, compliant with the XBRL Specification, created in order to exchange business information.

Taxonomies can be attained from many outside sources. The web site www.xbrl.org has a large repository of taxonomies that they have released. In addition, some large companies have created their own taxonomies and these can also be used to tag a CaseView document.

Notes

An XBRL "Instance document" is a business report, such as a financial statement, prepared to the XBRL specification. What the values in the instance document signify is explained by the taxonomy. An instance document cannot be properly understood unless the user knows the taxonomy used to prepare it.
