Accounting Index
What ACCPAC Plus Accounting files are needed:
File name |
Information imported |
GLGLOB. |
Profile information |
GLDATA. |
Chart of accounts |
GLPST. |
General ledger detail (optional) |
GLDATE'I. |
Accounting dates |
How to do it:
- On the File menu, select Import, and then Accounting Software.
- In the Import From box, select ACCPAC(DOS).
- In the Version box, select the version of ACCPAC Plus Accounting that you want to import.
- In the Import Path box, type or select the exact path where the ACCPAC file resides. Use the Browse button to locate the file manually.
- Under Import Components, choose to import either the Trial Balance or the full General Ledger Detail. The Chart of Accounts is automatically imported.
- Select the Import Client Information check box to import engagement properties such as name, address, and contact information from the import file.
- Select the three-character file name extension of the ACCPAC (DOS) file.
- Select Invert account number if needed.
- To import budget data into the Working Papers file, select Budget Data.
- If you are importing a file with departmental accounts, but some of them do not have department codes, clicking Use department number 0 when applicable inserts a zero before the account number to keep the number formatting consistent. With the check box clicked, account numbers will be imported in the format "0-xxxx" rather than the default format "xxxx".
- Select Use department number to build entities if needed.
- Select whether to use 12 or 13 periods for the import if the GLDATE'I.??? file cannot be found during the import. Note: Some earlier version of ACCPAC, such as version 5, may not even have the GLDAT'I.??? file. To change the importing period dates, you can remove the file GLDATE'I.??? from the import files and set the period dates applicable in the Engagement Properties.
- If, after a GL import, the file is out of balance, then it may be because reversing entries need to be written to the retained earnings account. To allow reversing entries, select the If GL import, create reversing entries for Retained Earnings check box., and select the appropriate check box (12 or 13) for the number of fiscal periods in the file. Normally this option is NOT necessary unless your file is out of balance after importing.
- Click OK to process the import.
