Language

Custom Dictionary

Type the name and path of a custom dictionary or click Dictionaries to locate an existing dictionary file. When you press Add Word for the first time, the program automatically creates a file with the file name CUST.lex and places the word in this file.

Words in Uppercase

To Download and Install a Hunspell Dictionary

Working Papers provides the ability to download new spell check dictionaries for different languages from the OpenOffice web site to be included in CaseView. If you also wish to use the hyphenation options for your language, you must also download the hyphenation file.

You must first ensure that a reference to the desired language exists in the Working Papers cwlang.xml file. In the Working Papers install folder, locate the file cwlang.xml and open with your text editor. Ensure that a reference to the desired language exists in this file. If it does not, you must add this language to the XML file. Follow the syntax of a language that already exists in this file.

  1. Browse to the OpenOffice extension repository to download the dictionary for the language you wish to use.
  2. In Windows Explorer, browse to the folder where WorkingPapers is installed. Verify that it has a Dictionary sub-folder. If the Dictionary folder does not exist, create it.
  3. Unzip the file downloaded from the OpenOffice extension repository.

This file may have a *.oxt extension, but is in zip format and can be uncompressed using common archiving software.

  4. Copy the *.dic and *.aff files from the uncompressed directory into the Working Papers Dictionaries directory. Ensure the *.dic and *.aff files follow the name conventions in your WorkingPapers cwlang.xml file.
  5. In CaseView, go to Tools | Options.
  6. On the Spell Checking tab, select your language from the language drop down menu.

Note: There are cases where a dictionary is provided as an OpenOffice extension file *.oxt and not a .zip file. In this case, you must unzip these files using an archive program and place the *.dic and *.aff files in the WorkingPapers Dictionaries folder. Please ensure the *.dic and *.aff files follow the file name conventions in your WorkingPapers cwlang.xml file.
