Installing only license manager (without SmartExporter) on the license manager machine

If you want to use a license manager server (i.e., you specify the Remote value or the hostname/IP address as an environment variable), the machine used as the license manager machine must have the license manager (Sentinel LDK License Manager) installed. This license manager is installed automatically during the installation of SmartExporter.

However, as an alternative to installing SmartExporter on the license manager machine, you can install only the license manager (Sentinel LDK License Manager) on it. The advantage is that in this case you do not have to run the entire SmartExporter installation. However, in this case, you can only run an offline activation.

Below you find instructions on how to proceed if you want to install only the license manager on the license manager machine.

Installation of the license manager

Start the installation of the license manager as local administrator by running the "haspdinst.exe" file from the folder "HASP" on the CD or in the SmartExporter download package with the parameters -i and -kp:

haspdinst.exe -i -kp

Using the Microsoft Services app you can check if the "Sentinel LDK License Manager" has been installed and started. The startup type should be set to “Automatic”. In the Task Manager (Services tab) you can also check if the “Sentinel LDK License Manager” is installed.

Note:

If you upgrade to a higher version of SmartExporter, you should always also install the license manager shipped with the new version on the license manager machine.

Afterwards run the offline activation of the licenses on the license manager machine, as described below.

Offline activation of the licenses on the license manager machine

  1. Open an internet browser on the license manager machine and go to http://localhost:1947/_int_/devices.html.
  2. In the row with the location “Local” and the vendor „99285“ click the C2V button.
  3. Please enter a file name for the c2v file and click the Save button. If the license manager machine is not connected to the internet, save the file to a drive to access it from a computer with internet access.
  4. Now run the offline activation via the Sentinel EMS Customer Portal. Make sure you have your SmartExporter license key ready and that you have already generated a c2v file as described above.
  5. Make sure that you have internet access and enter https://activation.audicon.net/ems/customerLogin.html in your internet browser.
  6. This will open a website where you have to enter your SmartExporter license key. Please enter the key you have received together with the SmartExporter version in the Product Key field.

  7. Click the Login button.
  8. An overview page is shown where your license key and the corresponding information and products are listed.

  9. Click the Offline Activation button.
  10. The Generate License dialog is displayed. Click the Browse button in the Upload C2V section and locate the c2v file you have previously generated.
  11. Click the Generate button to generate a v2c file.
  12. If the v2c file has been successfully generated, you can download the v2c activation file by clicking Download V2C File in the Activation Details area.

  13. Save the v2c file.

  14. Click the Close button to exit the dialog.
  15. You return to the Sentinel EMS page. Click Logout at the top of the page.
  16. Return to the internet browser on the license manager machine with the http://localhost:1947 page.
  17. Select the Update/Attach entry in the menu.
  18. Select the v2c file you created in step 13 and click the Apply File button.
  19. Select the Products entry in the menu and in the Product Name column check if the corresponding SmartExporter Edition was activated.
