Decrypt data tab
In the Decrypt data tab of the SmartExporter Data Privacy Decrypt Windows tool you can load the encrypted data, select the format settings, decrypt the data and save the decrypted data.
Note:
It is a prerequisite that the encrypted data has CSV, CSV with header or SAP® AIS format.
Follow the steps described below:

- In the Load data to be decrypted area select the encrypted file or load the data from the clipboard.
- The program automatically identifies the format of the loaded data. If the format settings still need to be adjusted, you can modify the settings in the Format area. The Data preview area helps you do that by showing the first 16 records according to the selected settings.
- In the Data preview area you can check if the selected settings are correct. The program automatically identifies the columns containing encrypted data. They are automatically selected for the decryption. Use the in same column and in new column entries to decide if the decrypted data will be written to the same column or in a new column.
- Select the checkbox in front of the Append _decrypted to column header option to mark the columns containing the decrypted data by adding the suffix “_decrypted”. (If the in new column option is selected, the checkmark is automatically set.)
- Click the Decrypt button to decrypt the data.
- Click the Save button to select the directory in which you want to save the data.

Note:
- In order to decrypt several files at once, all files need to have the same data format.
- All files need to be stored in the same directory.
- All settings you make in this tab are applied to all files in the selected directory.
- In the Load data to be decrypted area select the From folder entry from the drop-down list and use the Select folder button to navigate to the directory containing the files to be decrypted.
-
The program loads the first file from the folder and shows the first 16 records.

-
Click Save. All files from the selected directory will be decrypted and stored to the desired directory.
Note:
If you select the folder containing the source files also as storage location for the output files, all decrypted output files will receive the addition “_decrypt” in the file name.
If you select a different folder as storage location, the file names will remain unchanged. Files without content to be decrypted will be copied to the output folder without any changes.
In the output folder a log file with the name yyyymmddhhMMss_decrypt_log.txt will be created. This file contains the following information:
- For each file the name and path of the source file and the output file are given.
- If the file is not decrypted (e.g. because it does not contain any encrypted content), this is indicated by the string “File not decrypted” in the log file.
- Decrypted columns in the files: In the case of CSV files with header or SAP® AIS files the names of the decrypted columns will be listed. In the case of CSV files without header the decrypted columns will be indicated by column number.
